The Emirates recruitment process
Emirates runs one of the most structured cabin crew recruitment processes in the world. Understanding each stage helps you prepare specifically for what is coming rather than preparing generically.
Stage 1 — Open Day or Recruitment Event
Emirates Open Days are held in cities around the world. They typically include:
1. A brief presentation about the Emirates cabin crew role and lifestyle 2. A CV and photo drop-off (bring multiple printed copies) 3. Initial assessment — recruiters observe how you interact, present yourself, and carry yourself in the room
This stage is largely about first impressions. Emirates looks for warm, confident, well-presented candidates who appear approachable and professional. Dress conservatively and professionally. Smile genuinely. Make eye contact with recruiters.
- Wear smart business attire — no casual clothing
- Hair must be neat and pulled back if long
- Minimal jewellery, natural makeup
- Be polite and warm to everyone in the room, not just recruiters
- Prepare a 60-second confident summary of yourself
Stage 2 — Group Exercises
If selected from the open day, you will be invited to group exercises. These assess teamwork, communication, and leadership without being pushy.
Emirates recruiters observe how you: - Contribute ideas without dominating the conversation - Listen and build on others' ideas - Handle disagreement professionally - Keep the team on track
The content of the exercise matters less than HOW you behave. Someone who listens well, acknowledges others, and communicates clearly stands out far more than someone trying to "win".
Stage 3 — Final Interview
The final interview is typically a one-on-one or panel interview lasting 30-60 minutes. Expect:
- Motivational questions (Why Emirates? Why cabin crew?) - Behavioural questions (Tell me about a time...) - Situational questions (What would you do if...) - Questions about your understanding of the role and lifestyle
This is where STAR method preparation is critical. You should have 8-10 prepared STAR stories covering: difficult customers, teamwork under pressure, going above and beyond, handling conflict, adapting to change, and working in a multicultural environment.
